JMU Millers baseball splits doubleheader with #8 ranked Delgado C.C.



Game 1- JMU Millers Baseball Can't Catch Up To Delgado Dolphins


JMU Millers Baseball fell behind early and couldn't come back in a 10-1 loss to Delgado Dolphins on Tuesday. Delgado Dolphins took the lead on a double in the first inning.


The JMU Millers Baseball struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Delgado Dolphins, giving up ten runs.

Delgado Dolphins got on the board in the first inning when Brock Slaton doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.


Delgado Dolphins scored six runs in the fifth inning. The big inning for Delgado Dolphins came thanks to an error on a ball put in play by Logan O’neill and Jake Kaufman, a walk by Davis Stephens, a single by Bryan Broussard, and a double by Cade Pregeant.


Aiden Murphy was the winning pitcher for Delgado Dolphins. Murphy lasted seven innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out nine and walking zero.


Troy Morel took the loss for JMU Millers Baseball. The righty went four innings, allowing four runs on four hits and striking out one.


Trystin Gilbert, Kade Massey, Connor Pleasant, Connor Varnum, and Kole Sonnier all had one hit to lead JMU Millers Baseball.


Broussard went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Delgado Dolphins in hits.


Game 2 - JMU Millers Baseball Claims Victory Over Delgado Dolphins


JMU Millers Baseball scores more runs than Delgado Dolphins, takes victory on Wednesday to the tune of 5-4 In the second inning, JMU Millers Baseball got their offense started when Kole Sonnier grounded out, scoring one run. After JMU Millers Baseball scored one run in the top of the sixth, Delgado Dolphins answered with one of their own. JMU Millers Baseball scored when Kade Massey singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Delgado Dolphins then answered when Jake Kaufman singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run. JMU Millers Baseball pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third Massey singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run. Cabet Blanchard earned the victory on the pitcher's mound for JMU Millers Baseball. The lefthander surrendered four runs on seven hits over five and a third innings, striking out three. Sonnier threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. Cory Cook led things off on the hill for Delgado Dolphins. Cook surrendered three runs on two hits over two and a third innings, striking out three. Kyle St.Pierre, Kaile Levatino, and Cole Randazzo each contributed in relief for Delgado Dolphins. Massey led JMU Millers Baseball with two hits in four at bats. Kaufman went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Delgado Dolphins in hits.
