Game 2 Recap: JMU Millers Baseball Falls to Louisiana Christian Wildcats After Fifth Inning

JMU Millers Baseball lost the lead late in a 13-9 defeat to Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity on Sunday. The game was tied at eight with Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity batting in the bottom of the fifth when #24 drew a walk, scoring one run.

Despite the loss, JMU Millers Baseball did collect 14 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity had nine hits on the way to victory.

JMU Millers Baseball fired up the offense in the first inning, when Trevor Durr singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity tied things up at eight. Sladen Lyles hit a solo homer.

Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity scored six runs in the third inning. The big inning for Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity came thanks to walks by Dawson Labauve and Janeil, singles by Lyles and Jett Aubre, and by Chris Kelly.

Dawson Ardoin got the start for Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity. The righthander allowed five hits and four runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one.

Troy Morel was on the mound for JMU Millers Baseball. The righty allowed four hits and five runs over two and a third innings, striking out three. Payton Albert, Durr, Juan Ramos, and Gavyn Menard each entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings, one inning, two-thirds of an inning, and one-third of an inning respectively.

JMU Millers Baseball smacked three home runs on the day. Durr had a long ball in the third inning. Kole Sonnier had a dinger in the fourth inning. Nick Webre had a four bagger in the second inning.

JMU Millers Baseball totaled 14 hits in the game. Sonnier, Connor Varnum, Durr, Connor Pleasant, Trystin Gilbert, and Webre all managed multiple hits for JMU Millers Baseball. Webre, Gilbert, Pleasant, Durr, Varnum, and Sonnier each managed two hits to lead JMU Millers Baseball.

Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity tallied nine hits in the game. Lyles, Harrison Waxley, and Aubre each collected multiple hits for Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity. Louisiana Christian Wildcats Varsity didn't commit a single error in the field. Kelly had seven chances in the field, the most on the team.
